Club News 2019/20

The CCVC has had a successful year in 2019 and what year it’s has been! With Drive it Day Rally held on Sunday 28th April which started from Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome finishing at the Museum Of Power. A Road Rally driving a 50 mile country route across Essex . Numbers were down on last years entries due to another local event being held for the first time on the same day. This watered down the amount raised to £3,500.00, therefore, the Committee agreed to increase this to £5000.00 by taking the additional funds from the clubs charity ‘pot’!

The good news was from the money raised at this event, the CCVC were able to donate £2,500.00 to Kids Inspire, £1,250.00 to Essex Dementia Care and £1,250.00 to JDRF charities.

The Essex Classic Vehicle Show in Colchester Lower Castle Park on Sunday 15th September, now in its 4th year, was a great success and the weather was really kind to us with sun all day. With over 230 classic cars from the 20’s-30’s- 40’s through to the 80’s, stalls of all kinds, kiddies’ corner and arena events with a great show by a Free Runners group. The presentation to the trophy winners were in the afternoon and several awards were made. To top off a really great event the gross income for Headway-Essex was a fantastic £10,290.00, this the most that the event has raised in the four years its been running. A big thank you to all who attended and to all the helpers and marshals from Rotary Club Billericay Mayflower  .

That rounds off a fabulous fund raising year for the Charity Classic Vehicle Club where £13,790.00 was donated to Essex Charities.

Please see the ‘Gallery’ section on our website for all the photos from these events and the cheque presentations. Please see ‘Events’ section for the information for 2020 calendar.

New members are still a rare breed, we need more members who are prepared to give up a few days of the year to give something back and help those who are worse off than we are. There is nothing like the satisfaction you get when you see and hear how grateful charities are when presenting a cheque and hearing what that money means to them and what they will be able to do and who they are able to help!!

If you have a pre-1980 Classic or thoroughbred vehicle with some spare time to socialise and help with marshalling, setting up at events, or would like to help with organising and planning events, please see the membership page.

We are hoping to make 2020 another great year for Essex Charities.

CHARITIES NEED OUR SUPPORT and WE NEED YOUR HELP!!

Club News 2020/21

First a big thankyou to all our supporters over the years and in particular for your generosity following cancellation of Drive It Day earlier in the year.  Covid – 19 forced us to cancel Drive It Day but the vast majority of our supporters allowed us to pass on their entry fees to the nominated Charities, Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, BOSP and Beth Chatto Education Trust.  A Total of £2300 was given, details and thank you letters can be seen on this website.

Covid  – 19 wiped out every event and most meetings we had planned for 2020.

All Charities have had a bleak year not only coping with Covid – 19 but financially as well.

Let us hope that we can continue to support our local Charities in 2021 and also meet up again and get our cars to some fun Events.

While CCVC has been most successful over the years raising money for Charity it has been less successful in recruiting new members.  Over the last few years this has led to a successful collaboration with The Rotary Club of Billericay Mayflower who has provided  additional manpower resources to assist with marshalling at events.  Without their help CCVC would have struggled to continue.

Looking to the future Billericay Mayflower Rotary will continue to be an important ally to the CCVC in delivering events.  We plan to continue organising Drive it Days and Car Shows and as in the past the money raised will be passed to local charities.  In association with Mayflower Rotary Club we will be maintaining the CCVC  Brand name and this website you are familiar with.

We aim to run a Drive It Day Event on the 25th April 2021 and are currently examining the requirements and feasibility – provided the Authorities and Regulations allow.  We will update you later regarding this.

Finally,  CCVC will as soon as regulations allow continue to meet socially at the venues displayed on this website. When things get better we look forward to seeing more of you at these relaxed social meets.  These breakfast and evening get togethers are now totally informal and no membership is required,  just turn up, ideally with your car.

Watch this website for updates.

Hope to see you all with your vehicle at a CCVC Event in the 2021

Club News April  2021

The CCVC Committee hope this finds you well in these difficult times, please accept our sympathies if this is not the case.

We are all hoping that as more and more of our population receive the Covid 19 Jab that things will get back to normal and we can start to think about organising our Car Shows and Driving Events again.  We will of course only proceed responsibly and will expect our supporters to comply with any safety and hygiene requirements we may have to impose.

Discussions are underway for CCVC supporting Headway again for a proposed Car show in Colchester Early in September. Also plans are being made for a Car Show in Billericay in Early August.  Also we have a Drive Day Event all planned and awaiting confirmation dates from the Company Hosting the Finishing point.

All the above Events and hopefully more will appear later on this Web site along with booking details for you,  just as soon as we are able to make the arrangements firm.

So we now look forward to the possibility of all meeting up later in the year also to being able to revive our Monthly Saturday Morning Breakfast meets and Monthly Noggin and Natter Evening Meets to which everyone is welcome including wives, partners and cars.        These are open meetings that do not require club membership.   Proposed dates, times and venues and information for this will be posted later.

Keep well keep safe keep in touch and we all look forward to being able to meet up again.
