Club News 2017

The CCVC has been successful again this year and what year it’s has been! With Drive it Day held on Sunday 24th April which started from the Museum of Power, Maldon and finished at Audley End House and was called The Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown Rally .

A Road Rally driving a country route across Essex in your Classic, the finish at Audley End House, Essex, saw cars parking on the lawns in Front of the House. The house was the former home of Lord Audley was transformed in 1760s by Robert Adam, Gardens by Capability Brown.

The good news was from the money raised, the CCVC were able to donate £2,610.00 to St. Luke’s Hospice in Basildon, £1,200.00 to Essex Community foundation and £300.00 to the Museum of Power, Langford, Nr. Maldon.
Please see the ‘Gallery’ for all the photos from this event. Please see ‘Events’ 23rd April 2017 for the entry form for the Gunpowder Plot Rally.

The new Essex Classic Vehicle Show in Colchester Lower Castle Park on Sunday 18th September was a great success, with 200 classic cars, stalls and kiddies corner. There were arena events with a great show by the Free Runners group. We were blessed with sunshine all day and to top off the event the money raised for Headway-Essex was £6,750.00, what a fantastic amount, thank you to all who attended.

Other monies raised: Billericay Mayflower Rotary £550.00. this makes a total of £11,410.00 we have given to Essex Charities, thank you to all of you who attended our events, you raised a fantastic amount!

New members seem to be a rare breed, we need more members who are prepared to give up a few days of the year to give something back and help those who are worse off than we are. There is nothing like the satisfaction you get when you see and hear how grateful charities are when presenting a cheque and hear what that money means to them and what they will be able to do and who they are able to help!!

If you have a pre 1973 Classic or thoroughbred vehicle with some spare time to socialise and help with marshalling, setting up at events, or would like to help with organising and planning events, please see the membership page.

We are hoping to make 2017 another great year for Essex Charities.
