Club News 2018/19

Yet again the CCVC has been very successful in 2018 and what year it’s has been! With Drive it Day Great War Rally held on Sunday 22nd April which started from Rochford Hall and finished at Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome.

A Road Rally driving a country route across Essex with the finish at Stow Maries, the cars parking on the airfield. The Aerodrome has many historic buildings which were used for the airmen in the First World War.

The good news was from the money raised at this event, the CCVC were able to donate £3,000.00 to Help 4 Hero’s, £1,250.00 to Rotary Club of Billericay Mayflower and £1,000.00 to Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome which is a charity.

The Essex Classic Vehicle Show in Colchester Lower Castle Park on Sunday 16th September , now in its 3rd year, was a great success and the weather was really kind to us with sun all day. With over 250 classic cars from the 20’s-30’s- 40’s through to the 80’s, stalls of all kinds, kiddies’ corner and arena events with a great show by a Free Runners group. The presentation to the trophy winners were in the afternoon and several awards were made. To top off a really great event the income for Headway-Essex was a fantastic £9,021.00, this the most that the event has raised in the three years its been running. A big thank you to all who attended.

That rounds off a fabulous fund raising year for the Charity Classic Vehicle Club where £14,271.00 was donated to Essex Charities.

Please see the ‘Gallery’ section our website for all the photos from these events and the cheque presentations. Please see ‘Events’ section for the information for 2019 calendar.

New members are still a rare breed, we need more members who are prepared to give up a few days of the year to give something back and help those who are worse off than we are. There is nothing like the satisfaction you get when you see and hear how grateful charities are when presenting a cheque and hearing what that money means to them and what they will be able to do and who they are able to help!!

If you have a pre-1980 Classic or thoroughbred vehicle with some spare time to socialise and help with marshalling, setting up at events, or would like to help with organising and planning events, please see the membership page.

We are hoping to make 2019 another great year for Essex Charities.
