Club News 2017/18

The CCVC has been successful again this year and what year it’s has been! With Drive it Day held on Sunday 23rd April which started from RHS Hyde Hall and finished at Royal Gun Powder Mills and was called The Gunpowder Plot Rally .

A Road Rally driving a country route across Essex in your Classic, the finish at Waltham Abbey, Essex, saw cars parking on in the centre of the grounds of the 175 acre site which has many historic buildings dating back to the 17th century.

The good news was from the money raised, the CCVC were able to donate £2,500.00 to Little Havens Children’s Hospice, £2,350.00 to C.H.A.P.S Men Health Charity and £300.00 to Royal Gunpowder Mills. The donation to C.H.A.P.S Men Health Charity enabled them the hold a Men’s Day in South Essex where 3 people were found with life threating conditions!

In September we were able to arrange a Private Tour of The Mansion House, the home of the Lord Mayor of London in the City of London. We were able to present a Cheque to the Lord Mayors Appeal for £500.00.

The Essex Classic Vehicle Show in Colchester Lower Castle Park on Sunday 17th September , now in its 2nd year, was a great success. With over 200 classic cars, stalls and kiddies corner. There were arena events with a great show by the Free Runners group. We were blessed with dry weather until 2.30pm when the heavens opened up and stopped just it time for the presentation’s to the winners to be made. To top off a great event the money raised for Headway-Essex was £6.073.00, after expenses, what a fantastic amount, thank you to all who attended.

That rounds off a great fund raising year for the Charity Classic Vehicle Club where £11,723.00 was donated to Essex Charities.

Please see the ‘Gallery’ for all the photos from these events and the cheque presentation. Please see ‘Events’ 22nd April 2018 for the entry form for ‘THE GREAT WAR’ Rally.

New members seem to be a rare breed, we need more members who are prepared to give up a few days of the year to give something back and help those who are worse off than we are. There is nothing like the satisfaction you get when you see and hear how grateful charities are when presenting a cheque and hear what that money means to them and what they will be able to do and who they are able to help!!

If you have a pre 1973 Classic or thoroughbred vehicle with some spare time to socialise and help with marshalling, setting up at events, or would like to help with organising and planning events, please see the membership page.

We are hoping to make 2018 another great year for Essex Charities.
